CFM56-5B/CFM56-7B Tech Insertion Upgrade Kit

Tech Insertion is the infusion of new design technology into the current production engines. The technology is incorporated into all new production engines. An upgrade kit is also available for all CFM56-5B and CFM56-7B engines already in service.

Overview / Benefits
  • High-pressure compressor: new blade aero design delivering improved EGT and fuel burn benefits.
  • Combustor: enhanced mixing and improved cooling design delivering NOx reduction and improved durability for lower scrap rates.
  • High-pressure turbine: low shock airfoil contour and improved cooling design delivering improved fuel burn and longer TOW through increased efficiency between high and low pressure turbines.
  • Low-pressure turbine nozzle: improved cooling design delivering durability for lower scrap rates.
Projected Value
    Benefits will vary based on engine thrust level and kits installed, however, basic benefits include:
  • Longer time on wing (TOW) for higher EGT margin & lower deterioration.
  • Lower SFC of up to 1% over life cycle.
  • Lower emissions – meets future CAEP6 standards for ALL thrust levels. NOx reduced up to 20%.
  • Lower maintenance cost of between 5%-12%.
