Commemorating 35 years of aircraft engine production, CFM International reached another major milestone with this fall's presentation of "20,000th CFM56* engines" to Air France and flydubai.
In October, Air France was presented with a CFM56-5B engine to power an Airbus A321*. And, in a special Dubai Airshow ceremony on November 18, a CFM56-7B engine was presented to flydubai, a new low-cost carrier based at the Dubai International Airport.
Formed in 1974, CFM has become the world's leading supplier of commercial aircraft engines—now with 20,000 engines delivered to more than 500 operators around the globe. The company's six engine models span the thrust range from 18,500 to 34,000 pounds thrust. Current production commercial applications include engines for Boeing 737* and Airbus A320* family aircraft.
