Engine Overview

The F404-GE-102 engine, a derivative of the F404-GE-402 engine, is being developed by GE and Korea Aerospace Industries.

This engine includes single engine safety features and a Full Authority Digital Electronic Control (FADEC) derived from the F414-GE-400 engine.

The F404-GE-102 powers the T-50 advanced trainer/light fighter being developed by Korea Aerospace Industries and Lockheed Martin.

Engine qualification was completed in 2001. The T-50 / A-50 completed its first flight in August 2002, with first engine delivery in 2005.

The F404-GE-102, rated at 17,700 pounds (78.7 kN) thrust, incorporates single-engine redundancy and reliability features, plus an advanced FADEC (full authority digital electronic control) derived from GE's F414-GE-400 engine.
