Engine Overview
The CFM56-7B engine is specifically designed to power the Boeing Business Jet (BBJ)--a modified version of the Boeing 737.
The aircraft is specifically tailored to meet the demanding needs of the world's competitive executive.
A joint venture between Boeing and GE, the BBJ brings the low noise and fuel efficiency benefits of high bypass turbofan engine technology to the business jet market. The CFM56-7 engine--produced by CFM International, a joint company of Snecma, France and General Electric Company, U.S.A.--is the exclusive powerplant on Boeing's 737-600/700/800/900 series of aircraft.
The BBJ, which has an internal volume nearly three times that of other long-range corporate jets, can fly as long as 14 hours over a range of 7,140 statute miles, cruising at speeds up to Mach 0.82. Its exceptional range will support such nonstop flights as Log Angeles to Tokyo, London to Beijing or Dubai to Johannesburg.
In addition, GE provides a full range of engine-level services for the BBJ, including overhaul and repair, component repair and Maintenance Cost Per HourSM (MCPHSM) programs, as well as key support services through our network of service facilities.
