Engine Overview
The CF34-8 is an advanced 14,000 pound thrust class turbofan propulsion system designed for the new generation 70 and 90-passenger regional jets.
The CF34-8 takes full advantage of the experience gained on the CF34-3 engine's 27 million flight hours of airline operation.
It incorporates all the service-proven reliability, environmental and operational characteristics that have earned the CF34 engine family an excellent global reputation with airline operators for exceptional performance.
The first model of the CF34-8 series, the CF34-8C1, was FAA certified ahead of schedule in November 1999 and entered service on the Bombardier 70-passenger CRJ700 in 2001. In April 2003, Bombardier launched into service the 90-passenger CRJ900, powered by the CF34-8C5. The CF34-8E powers the EMBRAER 170 and 175 commercial jets. The EMBRAER 170 was certified in February 2004 and entered service in March 2004.
